Oscar winner Halle Berry makes an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Monday, November 15th. She chats with Ellen about her scare involving her daughter getting lost in a department store. PLUS, she addresses the rumors that she is playing Oprah in a movie and that she enjoys being naked at home.
Halle shares a story about briefly losing her daughter in a clothing store
Ellen: I heard you had a very scary incident with her recently.
Halle: I did. Every mom can relate when you lose your kid in the department store. Talk about sweating. And you just freak out for about 30 seconds. I came undone. I think my head projected off my body.
Ellen: Was she standing or was she in the stroller or anything?
Halle: No, she’s walking now. She can walk at 3.
Ellen: She’s speaking languages at 3 to. I don’t know. I have a niece who’s just grunting. I have no idea. She’s 18 months old and goes (grunts). Yours is speaking Spanish and French.
Halle: So she was standing there and I had her hand, I swear I did, and then all of a sudden, I looked down at a price tag or something and she toddled off for what seemed like two seconds and then the next thing I know, I
looked back around and it was like whosh. Gone. And I said, “Nayla? Nayla? Nayla?” Gone. And my heart just started…And I’m like “CLOSE THE STORE! SHUT THE DOOR! MY DAUGHTER’S GONE!”
Ellen: You went from like zero to crazy. So what happened?
Halle: She was right next to me. In a rounder of clothes where the pants were hanging. Right there. And after I became a lunatic and totally embarrassed myself, she stuck her head out and was like, “Hi.”
Ellen: Oh man. I heard about the situation and I want to make sure it doesn’t happen again so I got her something.
Ellen presents Halle with safety vest for her daughter that says on the back, “If Found Return To Oscar Winner Halle Berry”
Halle clears up some rumors
Ellen: This is what I heard. I heard that you’re going to play Oprah in a movie about her life. Did you hear that?
Halle: Yes I did. I’m not going to play Oprah. No, I was like (pretends to be on phone), “Hey, Oprah, Am I playing you? Just tell me because nobody has told me this.” I don’t know where these rumors come from.
Ellen: Is there even a movie being made?
Halle: I don’t know. Not that I wouldn’t want to play Oprah if there was a movie. I just don’t know how this stuff gets made up.
Ellen: Because I was going to play Oprah. But that’s okay. I’m not going to do it now. If you’d want to do it. That’s why I’m just asking.
Ellen: And the other rumor that I heard was that you very much enjoy being naked.
Halle: Laughs
Ellen: Look, you’re not disputing that. That’s taking too long to say no.
Halle: I do like being naked.
Ellen: I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.
Halle: Do you like being naked?
Ellen: It depends in what context. I’ve heard of people that actually clean their house naked. I don’t understand that. Do you clean your house naked?
Halle: No, I don’t clean my house naked.
Ellen: But have you heard about that? They clean their house naked and do things naked. I’m not naked unless there’s a necessity for it. Like I’ll
shower naked. I’ll be naked when it’s necessary. There’s no need to just be naked for the sense of being naked.
Halle: Just walking around the house? You can’t just be…
Ellen: Do you just walk about the house naked? Like during the day? You just don’t put clothes on?
Halle: Sometimes…
